How to tell which poker hand wins
In Texas Hold'em, each player makes their best five-card hand from their two hole cards plus the five community cards (the board). Whoever's best five ranks highest wins the pot; if they tie exactly, the pot is split. The calculator above does this for you, but it's worth knowing the order by heart.
Poker hands, strongest to weakest (what beats what)
- 1. Royal Flush— A♠ K♠ Q♠ J♠ 10♠
- 2. Straight Flush— 9♥ 8♥ 7♥ 6♥ 5♥ — five in a row, same suit
- 3. Four of a Kind— Q♣ Q♦ Q♥ Q♠ + any card
- 4. Full House— K♠ K♥ K♦ 7♣ 7♦ — three of a kind + a pair
- 5. Flush— A♦ J♦ 8♦ 5♦ 2♦ — five of one suit
- 6. Straight— 8♣ 7♦ 6♠ 5♥ 4♣ — five in a row, mixed suits
